If You Want It Done Right.

The Dow Rocks Mission

Our mission is to continue to grow as a family owned and operated business by serving the community that raised us. To accomplish this, we aim to provide the highest quality landscape materials and excavation services. We operate both residentially and commercially within the greater West Plains area. Most importantly, customer service and satisfaction is always our top priority, and we strive to build lasting relationships with each and every client we serve.

Home Grown & Family Owned

Building A Legacy

Dow Excavating started out in the late ’60s with Wally Dow, one truck, and a backhoe. He began this excavation business by helping out neighbors with occasional small land clearing projects, septic installs, and other one-off jobs.

Wayne Dow, the youngest of four, grew up alongside the business. After working with his dad for a few years, he eventually bought out the company in 1992. Since then, Wayne has grown the business not only in exceptional excavation services, but also commercial snow removal and Landscape Materials (what we like to call Dow Rocks). By 2015, we outgrew our original landscape yard, and purchased 707 W 1st. Street, where we are located today!

As a result of all his efforts, Wayne is a prominent small business owner in the Cheney area, and is currently bringing up the 3rd generation to help run the business.

Our Community

Giving back to the town that built us.

Over the years we have been involved in numerous projects both for work and for play. These projects have included jobsites for local school districts and EWU, community events, and perhaps one of our favorites: our annual Christmas Decorations.

We our proud to call Cheney our home. Each year we put planning and resources into community events such as Mayfest, the summer parade, Touch a Truck, holiday displays, and more. To learn more about our involvement, read through some of our articles below, or check out the Cheney Free Press!
